Military Draft:

If you were born in or after 1975, and you are 18 years of age or more, you are called for military service, but according to some condition, you maybe granted a Postponement or a Permanent Exemption.

The Embassy delivers a residency certificate through the Honorary Consulate's Office; which is a must to complete any postponement or permanent exemption file, and it has to be presented to the Army Headquarter in Baabda-Lebanon.

Required Documents for Postponing Military Draft  (Students Only)

  • Letter of full-time enrollment in school or college authenticated by the Lt. Governor of the province.

  • Current class enrollment.

  • Specification of current major.

  • Expected date of graduation.

  • Original copy must be signed and sealed from school administration.

  • Cash or money order in the amount of CAN. $15.00 per certificate payable to the Honorary Consulate of Lebanon.

Required Documents for Postponing Military Draft

(Lebanese who have been residing outside Lebanon continuously for the last five years at least)

  • A Certificate of Proof of 5 years continuous residence in Canada issued by the appropriate Canadian authorities. Legalized by the  Lt. Governor of the province.

  • Cash or money order in the amount of CAN. $22.50 per certificate plus $20.00 courier charge, payable to the Honorary Consulate of Lebanon.  

Note:

Upon arrival to Lebanon you should present the above documents to the Military in order to obtain a Military Exemption Card from the Military Headquarters in Baabda, including the following:

  • If you were not born in Lebanon, you should also include a birth certificate.

  • An Affidavit of residency in Lebanon, signed by the applicant himself, and including his current address (abroad) with his telephone number.

All documents for Postponement or Exemption from Military Service should be presented to the Ministry of National Defense in Lebanon after being legalized by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
